Rematch of Last Year’s Semi-Final Series to Open 2013-2014 Season
INDEPENDENCE, MO (September 3, 2013) – When the Missouri Comets were re-introduced in 2010, their first opponent was the Milwaukee Wave. In each of the past three seasons, the Comets and Wave paired up in the opening round of the MISL Playoffs. Most recently, the Comets scored game-winning goals in the final seconds of Games two and three to come from behind and win the 2013 MISL Semi-Final series. Now these two teams will face each other again in the Comets 2013-2014 Season Home Opener at the Independence Events Center on November 16th, 2013 at 7:35p.m. CT. The full 2013-2014 Schedule is expected to be announced in the next two weeks.
Opening night for North America’s top professional indoor soccer league will begin November 15th with the debut of the Pennsylvania Roar, who will host the Syracuse Silver Knights in their inaugural game at Santander Arena. Another MISL newcomer will play its inaugural game the second weekend of the season as the St. Louis Ambush will host the Roar at Family Arena on Friday, November 22, while the Silver Knights will also make their home debut that evening when they host their rival, the Rochester Lancers, at The Oncenter.
The Lancers will open their home slate the following night when they welcome the Silver Knights on the back end of the home-and-home series, and the defending champion Baltimore Blast will open their season that night when they host the Wave at 1st Mariner Arena.
The Wave will be the final team to open their home schedule when they host the Blast at U.S. Cellular Arena on Saturday, December 7. Each of the seven MISL clubs will play 20 games in 2013-14, 10 home and 10 away, with the season slated to conclude on March 2.
The MISL Playoffs will begin with the semifinals March 7-9, featuring the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds meeting in home-and-home series’ with a mini game to decide the series following the second game if needed. The championship will follow the same format on March 14-16. The higher seed will have the option to choose which game it hosts.
2013-2014 Season Tickets are on sale now. Fans can reserve their seats for the entire season by calling 855.4KC.GOAL or by emailing email@example.com. Single Game tickets will go on sale in October.
Nearly 400,000 fans attended MISL regular season games in 2012-13, marking the second consecutive season the league enjoyed a significant increase in attendance.
