(Kansas City, MO) - The Comets Major Indoor Soccer League Team has announced the signing of talented defender, Jose Luiz Birche De Souza to a one year contract with the team. The 29 year-old Brazilian has been training with the Comets while his visa and loan paperwork were being finalized. De Souza will be in uniform for the Comets Sunday rematch against the Vipers in Omaha.
De Souza is a strong, left-footed player with international club experience in both the indoor and outdoor game. He has played for prestigious clubs like S.C. Corinthians Paulista, Monterray LaRaza and Clube Atletico Paranaense. To make room for De Souza, a corresponding roster move will be announced at a later date.
“Birche brings a wealth of experience to our team, and a much need physical presence on defense,” said Comets head coach Kim Roentved.
The Comets next game is at 3:05 p.m. on Sunday, November 21st in Omaha against these same Vipers. The Comets next home game at the Independence Events Center is on Sunday, December 19th against the expansion Chicago Riot at 3:10 p.m.
